The Neglect of Women's Football in Volta Region: A Call to Action - Gbordzor Promise writes.

The state of women's football in the Volta Region has been a pressing concern for many. Despite the potential showcased by talented female players, the sport remains woefully neglected. This oversight has deprived our region of opportunities in te national and international competitions.
The recent release of the Black Maidens squad for the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls Cup highlights this neglect. Clubs like Rootz Ladies and Savana Ladies have players in the squad, but none are from the Volta Region. This is a stark reminder of our failure to take women's football seriously.
The Volta Regional Football Association (VRFA) has a critical role to play in promoting women's football. However, their leadership seems to be lacking. We need to know what strategies they have in place to promote women's football and what resources they are allocating to support clubs.
The delay in the commencement of the 2024/2025 women's league is another indication of this neglect. Scheduled to kick off on December 1, the league has yet to start, with no clear explanation for the delay. What obstacles are hindering the commencement of the league? Is it lack of funding, poor organization, or sheer indifference?
While we blame the leaders, what are the clubs doing to help themselves? Clubs like Luta Queen, Anlo Ladies, and Ave Shining Ladies are heavyweights in the region. How well have they promoted themselves and their players? Have they fostered relationships with clubs outside the region to gain exposure and expertise?
