Volta Region Cricket Association U-12 Asogli Yam Festival Bash enters Week Two

To ensure the grooming of young talents, the Volta Cricket Association has begun a U-12 Asogli Yam Festival league at the Ola SHS Park and will be entering week two (2) on Monday, September 9, 2024.
The 4-team double round robin, 10 Overs format has the likes of Young Stumpers, Vibrant Super Rangers, Modern Pitch Experts, and Green Bat Heroes, who began the battle on Monday, September 2, 2024.
Young Stumpers won the toss in their week 1 encounter against Modern Pitch Experts and went on to score 58 runs for 3 wickets. The stumpers limited the Pitch Experts to 56 runs for 1 wicket to win by 2 runs and pick their first 2 points.

On Wednesday, September 4, Bat Heroes shone with their bats after winning the toss, scoring 68 runs for 2 wickets and restricting Super Rangers to 55 runs for 4 wickets to win by 13 runs. Mawulolo Mufatu of Bat Heroes was exceptional, as he took 3 wickets, gave away 10 runs in 2 overs, and was adjudged the player of the match.
Bat Heroes lead the table with 2 points and +0.11 NRR, followed by Young Stumpers, also with 2 points. Modern Pitch Experts and Super Rangers are bottom 2 with no points yet.

Volta Regional Secretary and Physical Education teacher at Ola SHS, Victor Tetteh, tells TalksenseSports that they want to catch them young.
“We thought it wise to start something with these young lads so that they catch the basics faster and grow with it. We hope that this league actually teaches them a lot as it progresses and that we get sponsors to invest in the talent grooming of these boys”
Matches continue on Monday, September 9, with top-of-the-table clash between Young Stumpers and Green Bat Heroes.

Volta Region used to be very vibrant in Cricket and they are taking back their glory days with the support from the Ghana Cricket Association.
