UHAS won the Inter-University Quiz Competition for Physiotherapy students in Ghana.

The Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA), through its Education Committee, successfully hosted the inaugural Inter-University Quiz Competition on September 4, 2024, at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Hall of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

The event was part of celebrations marking the 2024 World Physiotherapy Day (WPT Day), which focused on Low Back Bain (LBP) and the pivotal role of Physiotherapy in its management and prevention.

It was only the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) that were able to feature students for the maiden edition of the competition. The quiz featured four challenging rounds, each designed to examine the participants' expertise in managing Low Back Pain.
In a display of outstanding teamwork, the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) team emerged victorious.
The team, which consisted of Vincent Arthur (Level 300), Ebenezer Gbernatey (Level 300), and Patrick Asampana (Level 200), triumphed over their competitors from KNUST. The UHAS team featured in the competition under the guidance of Mr. Seth Kwame Agyenkwa (Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy, an alumnus of UHAS) and Miss Albright Amedor (an intern at the Physiotherapy Department).

The winning team brought home a trophy, a plaque, a medal for each contestant, and a cash prize. Upon their triumphant return, the team met with the Dean of the School of Allied Health Sciences, Prof. Samuel Essien Baidoo, and expressed their gratitude to the University Management and School of Allied Health Sciences.
In addition to highlighting the critical role of Physiotherapy in managing Low Back Pain, the competition fostered a spirit of camaraderie and excellence among the participating institutions.
The event was a testament to the dedication and skill of Ghana’s future Physiotherapists and their commitment to advancing the field of Physiotherapy.
