On Wednesday, the 21st day of February 2024, at the Assembly Hall in Kpeve, the Hon. Wellington Elukpedzu Assembly member for Peki Wudome was elected as the new Presiding Member for the South Dayi District Assembly.
Before the election, the DCE of South Dayi District Assembly Hon. Godwin Kwame Dadzawa pleaded with the Assembly members to put their partisan colors aside and vote for someone very experienced in the House.
As a result, he implored the members to back the Assembly in its efforts to raise funds for the district development projects.
The DCD of the SDDA, Mr. John Kennedy Cobbah, Secretary to the Assembly who doubled as the Ag Presiding Member led the house so that voting could start.
On his own volition, Hon. Emmanuel Denu withdrew from the race, allowing Hon. Wellington Elukpedzu to go solo. Thirty of the thirty-two members of the House who were present cast yes votes, accounting for 94 % of the total.
In his acceptance address, Mr. Elukpedzu expressed gratitude to everyone for their trust and requested their assistance in advancing the Assembly's development agenda.
The Presiding Member-elect then moved the House to choose the chairmen of the five (5) statutory Sub Committee and the Spatial Planning Committee among others.
