Upper East: RCC secures land for office Complex for minerals commission.

The Upper East Regional Coordinating Council (UERCC) has allocated two plots of land to the Minerals Commission to construct its regional office in Bolgatanga.
The plot was secured through the effort of the Regional Minister, Hon Stephen Yakubu, following several appeals from the Head Office of the Commission to have its own office space in the region for effective service to members of the public.

The Minister led officials of the Commission from the Regional and National levels to inspect the land, located opposite the UERCC block.
The one-story building infrastructure, when completed, would serve both the Upper East and North East Regions.

The Regional Minister appealed to the construction firm to expedite work on the project and complete it within 18 months.
He said the necessary documentation including building permit, fire certificate, and Development and Environmental Protection Agency permits were secured as well as the building plan, and noted that there was no excuse to delay the construction work.
Hon. Yakubu used the opportunity to appeal to residents to support development agents like the Minerals Commission to ensure that the natural resources were mined properly according to the laid down regulations to protect the environment for unborn generations.

The Regional Minerals Commission currently operates from a rented apartment which according to the Regional Minister, was not appropriate considering the nature of its operations.
