Ave -Afiadenyigba: 14yr-old boy donates to pupils of RC Basic School

Wynston Ditchfield-Agboh, 14, travelled from the United States of America to Ghana to donate basic school supplies to deprived school children at the Ave Afiadenyigba RC Basic School in the Volta Region.

The 14-year-old said he was inspired to make the trip after learning about the difficulties that many children in Ghana face when it comes to education.
Wynston raised funds for basic school items such as pencils, notebooks, and backpacks with the help of his family and friends from the Tuxedo Park School in New York, USA, and travelled to Ghana to personally deliver the supplies to a school in a rural community.
The Ave Afiadenyigba RC Basic School has long been a fixture in the community, educating and supporting generations of local children.
However, the school has faced a number of challenges in recent years, making it difficult for students to thrive.
Budget cuts and a lack of resources have forced teachers to work harder, and students have not received the same level of support as their peers in other schools.
Wynston Ditchfield-Agboh told Citi News that education is very important in every community, but he highlighted the differences between his school and the Ave Afiadenyigba RC Basic School.
Educational materials are a necessity in every school, and all of these are items we use in school, but here I’ve noticed difficulties in some students receiving basic educational needs. This has been affecting their performance, and I hope that this gesture will help them greatly in their education”, he said.

Mrs. Sena Ama Kettor Dzanado, Headmistress of the Ave Afiadenyigba RC Basic School, stated that the school, which was built in 1944, “lacks infrastructural development and wants government or any organization to come to our aid to support us.”

She went on to say that this is “affecting the effective delivery of service to the students, and we want the school’s face to be lifted.”
She did, however, express her appreciation to the family for their help.
