Parts of Oti Region cut off power for 48 hours.

Some parts of Oti Region has been without power for 48 hours.

About 10 hours today, some shops are still not open due to the power outage. Salons and barberingshop I are mostly not open.
Residents in Krachi West Municipal of the Oti has not seen lights since Tuesday and business are collapsing gradually.

When GBC news visited Cash oil to check on how the outage is affecting them,we saw many people charging their phones and gadgets as that was the only power supply in the community.

A whatsapp chart reveals the problem facing the Volta River Authority (VRA) is yet to be trace and solve.

Salons, cold store shops, barberingshop and fashion design shops are all closed.

Some residents in the Oti region are worried about the power outage and have these to share with GBC news.

"The light out is affecting us more,as I speak to you my mother is into cocoa drink business and her three fridges full of drinks are spoiled. My brother is a fashion designer, three days ago his customers came for their materials as he was not able to finish the work as promised".

The problem here is seriously affecting out lives and some people are always stealing our phones because we all charge our phones at one place because of the power outage and some of our parents uses the power for business and the variables are spoiled in the fridges.

Madam Josephine Addo who is the local manager for Cash oil said" those who comes here to charge their phones whenever you ask them not to charge, they see you to be wicked and that is not the situation here. Fuel prices are going up each and everyday. I will love to move to a different place because of the lighting problem.
We have been consuming fuel since the light went off to power our system and people are not purchasing the the fuel to".

A farmer who came to get fuel at the filling station was not happy with the problem. He was worried and asked if there are leaders in the Municipal.
He said, " What are our leaders doing to solve this long term problem? What I have for our leaders is,this modern Ghana we all know it is the lights that we uses for our business. Without light, our activities are not moving and we the people are suffering too much. For the past one week we don't have a stable power supply,we did demonstration on it and though that could have been of help but it rather worsen the case and this shows we are in darkness".

Ali Dauda,a barber in Kete Krachi also shared his.
" We the people using the power for our business are dying slowly and can not work again. My shop have been closed for the past four days now and we always go bed hungry. If the authority did not solve the problem, they will either see us dying or we go into stealing to survives."
He added that,we don't know why if Bimbilla and Yendi had problem with their light we have to share with them so we badly needs a sub station".

Auntie Martha,a cold store operator nearly cry when narrating how her cold store business is been affected by the power outage.
"They are making us pass through a lot of financial problems. All my variables in the fridges are spoilt but every month they will still bill us and what did they want us use in payment the bills. If you don't pay they will disconnect your line. Am even lucky my suppliers did not supply me the month,if had supplied me by now am in a big trouble and even the little I have in the fridge are all spoilt.
This problem must be solve now so our business can move on".
