Rev. Apenkwa Brown retires after 32 years of service

 Rev/Dr. John Apenkwa Brown and Mrs. Florence Adjeiwaa Brown have retired from active ministry at a ceremony organized for his farewell and thanksgiving service. Until his retirement, Rev. Dr. Brown was the senior pastor of Light House and Golden Gate AG, all in Assin Fosu. Rev. Dr. John Apenkwa Brown has fought a good fight, he has finished his course and has kept the faith as a full-time ordained Minister of our Organization. Out of the thirty-three (32) years of dedicated service to the Lord, Rev. Dr. Brown has spent twenty-seven (27) years in Central ‘B’ i.e. (1995-2002).
Rev. Dr. John Kwame Apenkwa Brown was born on the 5th day of August, in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ 1956 to Mr. Henry Kwaku Brown of Assin Anyinabirim and Madam Helina Dede Tenkorang of Agona Kwanyako, all of the blessed memory. He began his elementary education at Amamo Primary School near the timber market in Accra. He continued at Kwanyako Methodist middle school where he obtained the Middle School Leaving Certificate in 1975. 
Rev.Dr. Brown continued his schooling at Agona Swedru School of Business, where he pursued business courses and completed with SC/GCE Ordinary Level Certificate in 1984. Again, he enrolled at the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS), now the University of Professional Studies where he obtained a Certificate in Business Management in 1986. 
Rev. Dr. Brown had the opportunity to work as an accounts clerk with Ghana-Korea Fisheries Company for three years. He, later on, furthered his education to pursue a Modular Course at Agona Swedru where he was the course prefect in that programme. After the programme, he was given an appointment as a teacher and taught for a year at Winneba Anglican Middle School in 1985.
Rev.Dr. Brown enrolled at the Southern Ghana Bible College from 1986 to 1989 where he obtained a Diploma in Theology. After he graduated from the Bible School, he was posted to Gomoa Ankamu in 1989 and was later transferred to Breman Asikuma in 1995 to Pastor Shiloh Assemblies of God. He became the District Pastor of the then Assin District of the defunct Central Region Assemblies of God. The Assin District covered the entire Assin, Upper Denkyira, Twifo, and Breman lands (Now referred to as Central Region ‘B’). He worked with Rev. Peter Acheampong as the District Secretary and the Late Rev. Emmanuel Nyarkoh as the District Treasurer (The then One District, has become one Region since 2015). 
Rev.Dr. Brown never rested on his oars but continued to obtain a Degree in Theology at Southern Ghana Bible College, now Assemblies of God Theological Seminary from 1997 to 2000. He studied for his Master’s Degree in Leadership Counseling (Psychology) from Laureate Education and Universities Incorporation Training Programme Scotland, the UK in June 2013. Rev. John Apenkwa Brown vigorously pursued a Ph.D. in Enterprise (Counseling Psychology) from Laureate Education and Universities Incorporation Training Programme Scotland, the UK.
Rev. Dr. Brown established over twenty churches whiles in active ministry. Mention could be made to the following: Gomoa Ngyeresi, Gomoa Ada, Gomoa Mpruman, Gomoa Nkoransa, and Gomoa Ajumako all in the Central Region ‘A’ Assemblies of God. In Central Region ‘B’, he planted the following churches Breman Benin A/G, Breman Baako A/G, Breman Eyipey A/G, Breman Jamra A/G, Breman Fosuansa A/G, Breman Nwomaso A/G, Golden Gate A/G (Assin Fosu), Fresh Anointing A/G (Assin Fosu), Dompim A/G, Juaso A/G, Brofoyedur A/G, Adiembra A/G, Asamankese (Kwame Atta) A/G.
Rev. Dr. Brown also reached out to the foreign world and was instrumental in planting one church in the United States of America.
Rev. Dr. Brown is a man of vision and developmental projects are the footprints of wherever he ministers. Among the tall list of projects, the following have been captured:
• Land at Breman Asikuma on which Shiloh International School has been built.
• Construction of Shiloh A/G Chapel at Breman Asikuma.
• Purchased a portion of land and began the construction of Breman Bedum Chapel
• Purchased plots of land for Breman Eyipey, Baako, and assisted in the purchase of that of Breman Jamra A/G
• Building of an Ultra-Modern Mission House at Assin Fosu.
• Construction of Guest House (at roofing level) at Assin Fosu.
• Assisted in the construction of a temporal place of worship for Breman Jamra A/G
• Purchase of Land and building structure (at the window level) for the development into a mission house for Golden Gate A/G, Assin Fosu
• Construction of a Chapel for Golden Gate A/G, Assin Fosu.
• Acquisition of Five (5) plots of land for prayer Centre A/G on these plots of land, a structure of a ten-bedroom building has been built (Foundation level)
• Purchase of Land and construction of a chapel for Juaso A/G.
• Purchase of land for Assin Nyankomase A/G (Church building is currently under construction).
• Purchase land for Assin Brofoyedur A/G and Dompim A/G for the development of church buildings.
• Reconstruction and facelift of Lighthouse A/G Assin Fosu.
Rev. Dr. Brown has touched the lives of many Believers and people in and beyond the communities where he has worked. Under his ministry, seventeen (17) Pastors have been trained. He also assisted some brethren to be trained as Christian workers. Many can testify that he has been very instrumental in the pursuit of academic laurels and other endeavors in society.

Rev. Dr. Brown also held the following positions during his active service;

1. District Pastor of the defunct Assin District (Now Central Region ‘B’ A/G)
2. District Pastor of Assin District (Breman and Assin Districts)
3. District Pastor of Assin District (Assin South and North )
4. Regional Director- Teen Challenge Central Region ‘B’
5. Member Council of Elders, Central Region ‘B’ A/G, currently he is the lead Pastor of Lighthouse A/G, Golden Gate A/G, and Associate Churches.

Rev. Dr. Brown got the opportunity to Minister in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, and Holland.

Mrs. Florence Agyeiwa Brown has been a great pivot in the ministry of Rev. Dr. Brown. She has been a mother to mothers, husbands, the youth, children, widows, and to a cross-section of the general public at the places where they have ministered. Mrs. Brown exhibited great proficiency in Christian counseling although she did not go through mainstream professional counseling training. Notably, she was an Exhorter, Preacher, and Evangelist. She also completed the Minister Wives program at Southern Ghana Bible College (Now Assemblies of God Theological Seminary) at Saltpond in 2011.

Additionally, she was very resourceful to the Central Region ‘B’ Ministers Wives Association, and the Women’s Ministry in the execution of their activities and offer guidance to the leaders of both the Minister’s Wives and Women’s Ministry.

Throughout the active ministry of Rev. Dr. Brown, Mrs. Agyeiwa Brown saved many marriages from breaking down and supported the church board members of the various Churches that they have pastored in the areas of guidance and counseling. She exhibited excellence in hospitality and she has indeed influenced the fruitful ministry of Rev. Dr. Apenkwa Brown.
