Sunday, July 17, 2022
Right to Information Commission (The Commission) as part of its mandate to promote the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989) has today, 30th June, 2022, ended its two-day sensitization programme for the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR).
The sensitization was for Management and Staff of Tema Oil Refinery to be abreast of Act 989 so as to help them know their rights and obligations under the law and also not to fall foul of the law in future since one can be penalized for flouting the provisions of the Act 989.
The sensitization was held in two sessions for the first day. That is, morning session and afternoon session. The morning session featured some management and staff whilst the afternoon session featured the technical staff of Tema Oil Refinery.
Subsequently, the second day was also structured into morning and afternoon sessions, which included both Management and Staff.
The sensitization took a different dimension where participants were allowed to ask questions and also share their experiences as far as the Right to Information law is concerned.
Mr. Mawusi Nelson Obuo, Manager for Learning and Development at the Tema Oil Refinery, exhorted the Commission for its good work and assured the Commission that his outfit will at all time engage so that they don't fall foul to the law as other institutions are already being penalized for not complying to the Act 989.
Stephen Owusu Esq., Head of Legal, Governance, Regulatory, and Research of the Right to Information Commission, on behalf of the Commission, expressed gratitude to Management and Staff of Tema Oil Refinery for their cooperation throughout the two days of the sensitization programme.
The sensitization was held on the 29th and 30th June, 2022 at the Assembly Hall of the Tema Oil Refinery.
