Ho: E. P. University College appoints new registrar.

On Friday, 1st July, 2022, the Evangelical Presbyterian University College (EPUC), Ho officially welcomed the newly appointed Registrar, Mr. George Kwaku Debrie (Togbe Dogbega V) to its community at a short but colourful handover ceremony at its main campus in Ho.

Mr. Debrie, who is the "Agbotagbala" of the Vakpo Todzi in the Vakpo traditional area of the Volta Region, took over from Mr. Obed Worlanyo Kwame Adom, the Ag. Registrar.

In his opening remarks, the President of the University College, Professor Edem Kwasi Bakah thanked the outgoing Acting Registrar for his contribution towards the growth of the University College.
He added that , "the role of a Registrar in every institution cannot be underestimated, hence the Registrar serves as the main Administrator of the University College. He is the custodian of the rules, laws and regulations of the institution. He must be the one to keep everybody in line; if you don’t have a strong Registrar, a lot of things will go wrong. Mr. Adom has worked to the best of his ability. He has always composed himself and pushed for work to be done. We will always knock on his door because he has a rich institutional memory. We will miss you.”
While introducing the new Registrar, the President indicated:
“The new Registrar is a seasoned University Administrator who has worked for about 23 years in the tertiary landscape of Ghana. Some of the changes you have started seeing in the University College, he is coming to also continue in that direction and also bring new changes, to ensure that our University College is run properly".
"He respects protocols and will ensure that the structures work. He has been with us for a while during a short transition period and has seen how things work before assuming office today”, Prof. Bakah concluded.
The outgoing Ag. Registrar also used the occasion to express his appreciation to staff and management for the cooperation they had offered him during his tenure.

"I want to thank the President; the zeal with which he came to work here, I pray that the Lord will continue to give him strength. And I pray that you continue to live as a family.”

In his acceptance remarks, the new Registrar, Mr. George Kwaku Debrie who is also a Lay preacher of the E. P. Church, Ghana stated:
“I thank you for this opportunity to work with you. I am also grateful to Mr. Adom for the good work he has done. If he had not been here, I would not be here. I have had a lot of insight of this University College and the conditions are difficult. I want to assure you, that I will lend my support to you all. I appeal for your cooperation and will like to stress on discipline as our core value. If we discipline ourselves, we will be able to discipline our subordinates. Punctuality, that is keeping to time is one of the steps towards discipline. If we show good example, those who we are managing will follow.”
Mr. Obed W. K. Adom served the University College for 14 years, and 6 years as Acting Registrar.

His successor, Mr. George Kwaku Debrie has worked at the University for Development Studies (UDS) for 23 years rising through the ranks to become a Deputy Registrar. He also served as Head of General Administration, Human Resource and Governing Council Secretariat.

Mr. George Kwaku Debrie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English, with a study of Religion (Christian), a Post-graduate Diploma in Journalism and Communications from the University of Ghana, as well as a Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing in the United Kingdom.
