History of Krahn People of Liberia and Ivory Coast.



Krahn People can be found in Liberia and Ivory Coast they are part of the Niger- Congo family branch and they are related to the Kru People, they migrated from Western parts of Nubia present day Western Sudan and settled in Ivory Coast due to migrations other Krahn were left behind Present day Ivory Coast and they migrated in the 16th Century and settled in Present day Liberia. The Krahn are Ancinet warriors they are also hunters, farmers and Fishermen they grow crops such as Manioc, Maize and Bananas they formed councils consisting of young warriors for protection and village elders serve as consultants in affairs, masks among Krahn are used during Cultural and ceremonial events later in 1989-1996 the 1st Civil War in Liberia the krahn, mandingo and mino were part of it.

 Libyan trained rebels led by Charles Taylor invaded from Ivory Coast Samuel Doe's former procurement Chief and Doe was of Krahn and Afro American ancestry it is said Taylor's National Patriotic front rebels rapidly gained support of the Liberians because of Doe's repressive nature of government and the krahn masks the kagole masks traced back to the 19th century it is carved with wood some of the masks is carved with
