Samsung has sworn to use discarded fishing nets.

In furthering its promise of sustainability, Samsung Electronics has developed a new material that is made from repurposed fishing nets to be incorporated into galaxy devices. 

The move marks another step in the ‘Galaxy for the Planet journey’ that is aimed to positively reduce environmental footprint and adopt sustainability in technology. 

 In a statement, the company has also noted that 640,000 tons of fishing nets are abandoned and discarded every year. They then make a home on the ocean beds and become responsible for trapping and entangling marine life and damaging coral reefs and natural habitats.
