Oti Regional Youth Parliament Inaugurated

The Oti Regional Youth Parliament, an initiative under the National Youth Authority has successfully been inaugurated.
The inauguration, which took place at the Dambai College of Education in the Oti Region saw vibrant youths from across the various Districts in the Region attending.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Pious Enam Hadzide, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA) urged the participants to be diplomatic in their dealings.
According to him, the NYA is inaugurating Regional Youth Parliaments across the 16 Administrative Regions to get the Youths actively involved in decision making.
Hon. John Thasun, the Oti Regional Director – NYA also indicated the, the Regional Parliament will go a long way to draw the youth much closer to the structures of government.
Hon. Suleimana Shamuna was elected Rt. Honourable Speaker, with Hon. Augustine Okuledaba and Hon. Godwin Yaw Ogudi serving as Majority and Minority Leaders respectively.
The Members of Parliament, who were drawn from the various Municipal/Metropolitan/District Assemblies Youth Parliaments within the Oti Region expressed their excitement about the event and pledged to diligently play their role in making sure the Region sees the necessary developments it needs.
Hon. Enam Hadzide further indicated that, the NYA is working on establishing a National Youth Parliament, which would comprise of Members from the various Regional Parliaments.
He again urged all the MMDCEs within the Region to give their maximum support to the Regional and Assembly Youth Parliaments in other to help it develop.
In attendance were Hon. Dr. Joshua Gmayenam Makubu (Oti Regional Minister), Hon. Kwesi Nkrumah Ogyile (DCE – Krachi-Nchumuru District), Hon. Emmanuel Kajal Jalulah (MCE – Krachi West), Hon. Bright K. Lanwoah (MCE – Nkwanta South), Hon. Nawugma K. William (DCE – Nkwanta North) and Hon. Francis Kofi Okesu (MCE – Krachi East) among others.
Hon. Dr. Makubu in his address congratulated the Coordinator for the NYA in the Oti Region, Hon. John Thasun for his effort in getting the Youth Parliament inaugurated and urged all members to hold it in high esteem.
