GHANA FALLS TO NIGERIA BY 9 WICKETS ON DAY 4 OF WOMEN'S T20I TOURNEY

It was another derby for the two west African rivals at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, where Ghana lost to Nigeria on Friday, April 1, 2022, in the Access Bank Women’s T20 Invitational tournament.
Ghana, after winning toss and electing to bat first scored 58/8 in 20 overs. Elizabeth Annor and Rashidatu held on the good bowling of the Nigerians, until after the 5th over, when Annor was caught.
More wickets fell as the game progressed, including a duck for Rhyda Ofori.
It was a difficult first innings for the rare queens, as Nigeria enjoyed the dot balls from the spin bowlers.
Nigeria in the second innings, Kehinde stood strong, contributing *34(36) in their total of 61/1 to win by 9 wickets. Ude Lillian (4-1-8-3) was adjudged the Player of the Match.
It was the second time losing to the Nigerians, who beat Ghana at the Achimota Oval A on January 20, 2018 in the second edition of the North West Africa Cricket Council Women’s tournament.
Ghana remains 4th with 2 points (-1.495 NRR) and might probably play the 3rd place match, as The Gambia, who lost their 3rd match later today against Rwanda.
The Gambia, who plays their last match against Sierra Leone tomorrow at 9:30am, lost to Rwanda by 10 wickets after a 42/10 in 15.5 and 43/0 in 3.5 overs result. Host Nigeria, will later tomorrow also battle Rwanda for who tops, as both have won all 3 matches.
It is however certain, that both Nigeria and Rwanda will play the finals on Sunday, April 3, 2022.
Ghana will likely also play Sierra Leone in the 3rd place game earlier on Sunday.
