The Pikworo Slave camp is one of the oldest slave camp in the country. Since it inception in 1704 and was in operation up to 1845. It is located in Paga a suburb called nania, about 3 kilometers west of Paga in the upper east of Ghana.
It was initially meant for buying slave, where slaves were bought and later resold in the Salaga Slave market after walking about 150 km to the south and subsequently transported to the coast for shipment.
This centre of a slavery activities had people sold to English, French and Dutch slave traders.
