Cricket Senior Women's team departs to Lagos for T20 International Tournament.


The Ghana Cricket Association's Senior Women's Team on Saturday, March 26, 2022 left the shores of the country for the Women's T20 Tournament in Nigeria at 7:45am.

The Team who have since arrived and resting for tomorrow's training schedule, consists of Team Manager, Mariam Ibrahim, Head Coach, Obed Harvey, and Assistant Coach, Williams Kanchoba.

They will have a one hour each Net sessions and Outfield practice at 9:10am and 10:10am respectively on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS).

Ghana begins their bid to clinching their first International trophy against Rwanda on Monday at 1:50pm (local time), 12:50 (GH Time) before they take Sierra Leone and The Gambia on Tuesday & Wednesday, March 29 & 30, same time at the TBS. 

They will seal their round Robin with a tie against Host, Nigeria in the morning (9:30am) of Friday, April 1 after a rest day.

In a brief interview with TalksenseSports, Head Coach Obed Harvey revealed their target and chances. 

"We have said that our goal is to become the most competitive Team. We are going there to achieve our goal irrespective of outcomes of the matches. All the Teams coming have prepared very well and we'll not underrate any of them. Once Cricket is an unpredictable game, we'll do our best and expect support from all Ghanaians following the game, especially TV Icon Nana Aba Anamoah, who is already falling in love with the game."

Ghana will be playing Rwanda for the first time as they've played all other opponents before.

Ambassador for Women's Cricket in Ghana, Madam Angela Allotey, who doubles as the Treasurer for the Ghana Cricket Association was at the Terminal 3 to inspire the ladies before their departure. 

In the 2 North West Africa Cricket Conference (NWACC) tournament's held, Ghana has finished 3rd in Gambia (2015) and 2nd in Ghana, (2018).
