Volta: Agave Traditional Council inaugurated at Dabala.

A twenty-four (24) member Council of Elders for the Agave Traditional Council has been inaugurated at Dabala in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region. The Council, which is made of chiefs, queenmothers as well as statesmen and women with varied knowledge and experience from the Agave State, would serve among other things as an advisory Council to the new Agave Paramountcy.
The colourful event to inaugurate the Agave Traditional Council of Elders was interspersed with the display of the rich cultural values and traditions of the chiefs and people of the Agave Traditional Area. 

It attracted a large crowd of dignitaries from far and near including many of the Agave citizens who want to see much more progress and development realized in their traditional area of the country as well. The Chiefs and Queenmothers from the Agave State were also heavily represented.

Out of the 24 members of the Council, four (4) of them are women. The Council also has three (3) Ex-Officio members including the Agave State Secretary.
The Council of Elders are the Senior Divisional Chief and Miamefia of the Agave State, Togbe Lavoe Amusu V, Senior Divisional Chief and Megbefia of Agave, Togbe Azilapu IV, Amega Agbodemegbe of Wetorkor, Hlortator of Fievie Clan, Tator Aheto Kpegla, Awafia of Tsivie Clan, Togbe Sekpetey III, the Installer of Awadada and Paramount Kingmaker, Dumega Alfred Agbesi Woyome, Mr. Klutse Kudomor of Aglorkpovia as well as Fiator Awukuvi Adiabo of Dabala.

The others are the Dufia of Dabala, Togbe Kwakuvi Akah Aglorboni III, Dufia of Adutor, Togbe Lugu Awadali IV, Dumega William Gbemu of Agbakope, Dumega Seth Ametorwodo of Nyinuto, Queenmother of Dabala Junction, Mama Korsiba II, Dr. Felix Kweku Anyah of Lolito, Hlortator of Agovie Clan, Tator Agovie-Gli II and Prof. Pius Thomas Kuma Agbenorku of Lakpo-Zome. 

Mrs. Beatrice Tsikudo Agyekum of Dalive Tsikudokope, Tsiamiga of the Agave State, Tsiamiga Lincoln Woyome, Senior Divisional Queenmother of Larve, Mama Adenya III, Mamaga Nyagadze II of Gonu Ashiagborkope as well as Mr. Michael Kwashie Agbolosu of Agbakope are also members of the Council.

The Ex-Officio Members are the Agave State Secretary, Mr. Charles Amenyo as well as his two (2) deputies, Messrs Seth Gbemu of Agbakope and Holy KofiAhiabu of Lolito.
Rev. John Kokloku of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC), Dabala administered the oaths of allegiance and secrecy to the Council Members in the presence of the large gathering that witnessed the ceremony with pageantry and the continuous firing of musketry.

A twelve (12) member contingent of the Cadet Corps of the Dabala Senior High
Technical School mounted a guard of honour to herald the arrival of the Paramount Chief of the Agave State and his entourage to the durbar grounds to the admiration of all and sundry present at the event.

The Agave State Secretary, Mr. Charles Amenyo who spoke on behalf of the Council Members, was grateful to the Paramount Chief, Togbe Xedihor Hlitabo IV for the honour done them. 

He gave the assurance that members of the council would discharge their duties and responsibilities to the best of their abilities and to the betterment of the Agave State and its Paramountcy.

Paramount Chief of the Agave Traditional Area, Togbe Xedihor Hlitabo IV charged the council members to be honest, truthful and a transparent in the performance of their duties. He called for unity and togetherness among the people of Agave, saying, that is the only way they can pool the needed resources, both human and material for the development of the Agave State.

The Special Guest of Honor was the Divisional Chief of Ngleshie Amanfrom in the Greater Accra Region, Nii Kwashie Gborbilor IV. 

He stressed the need for the
Council Members to become what he described as the backbone of the
Paramountcy in all its spheres and endeavours.
