Are you already wondering what to gift that special someone on the 14th of February? Worry no longer. I have the perfect suggestion for you, and the perfect gift for you.

The valentine month is here again, and it is supposed to be a day on which we all go around seeing family and friends and work colleagues, giving them gifts, and letting them know that we truly appreciate them and love them.  

But the romantics have hijacked it. It is now, instead of being a day of cordiality and conviviality and love shown to everybody, a day for romantic love and raw sex for many. 

It is now a day on which boys give chocolates, MOMO, and other material stuffs and expect sex in return. It is now a day on which women buy the already tired singlet, ‘supporters’ and handkerchiefs for their boyfriends. 

But it shouldn’t always be so. It can be different. You can make it so. 

This February, I’m charging you to give Valentine Day Gifts without expecting anything back in return.

 And don’t give MOMO or material things like jewels and jeans; give books. 

Take a good look at your lover or friend. What sort of book will be just right for him or her to read? Buy it for them. 

Is she unhealthy? Buy her “EveryWoman.” 

Is she not passionate about the love you share? Buy her Vacancy for a Lover. 

Is he having problems with his studies? Buy him Learning Strategies and Study Skills. Has he failed an exam? Buy him Examination Techniques.

 Is he becoming dispassionate about pursuing his dreams? Buy him Personal Development for the 21st Century. 

Is she indisciplined in using money? Buy her Financial Strategies for Financial Independence. 

Buy people gifts that can change their lives or improve it. Buy them something they can remember you with long after you have broken up with them. 

Not that I wish you break up with your lover. But shit happens. 

And the perfect gift I have for you? A media programme themed on love, lust and life.
