Volta: Agbozume-Sukladzi R.C. Basic School inaugurates state of the art ICT Laboratory.

A multi-million Ghana Cedi refurbished Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) learning centre for the Agbozume-Sukladzi Roman Catholic Basic Schools at Agbozume in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region has been commissioned at a colourful and eventful ceremony at Agbozume.
The computer laboratory which would benefit more than eight hundred (800) pupils in the double-stream school, was a complete collaborative effort of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), School Management Committee (SMC), members of the the Old Students’ Association as well as some anonymous donors based within and outside the shores of Ghana.
The anonymous donors, who played a major role in the realization of the ICT laboratory project or dream, raised some Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (Ghc50, 000.000.00) towards the procurement of nineteen (19) brand-new desktop computers and accessories in addition to two (2) fresh laptops for the school.
The Old Students under their Chairman, Mr. Pius Dushie, single handedly sponsored the procurement of ten (10) computer tables with forty (40) strong chairs. The Association also added one (1) desktop computer and accessories in addition to funding the installation of two security streetlights in front of the computer laboratory.
The PTA/SMC as well as the Chief and members of the Agbozume-Zongo community also donated various and reasonable cash amounts that went into electrical wiring, painting and other related refurbishment costs.
In his inaugural address at the event, the Headteacher of the school, Mr. George Atisu said the school now has a state-of-the-art ICT laboratory with twenty (20) brand-new desktops and two (2) new laptops in a forty (40) seatter space computer laboratory for eight hundred and three (803) pupils beginning from the Kindergarten level to the JHS division.
He was grateful to all and sundry for the wonderful intervention but like Oliver Twist, stressed the need for other stakeholders including individuals and organizations to help fill the remaining twenty )20) spaces with additional computers in order to bring the number to forty (40) for the benefit of the huge pupil enrolment of the school.
The Assistant Headteacher and ICT Teacher of the school, Mr. Ben Gameli Morkli noted that until the provision of the facility at the school, ICT study was mainly theoretical and also in an abstract form and sometimes with his personal laptop. No doubt, the School Prefect, Master Augustine Ametsikor and the Language Prefect, Miss Kate Alorsor were not only excited about the ICT laboratory but also said they would be well-motivated to match their colleagues in the big towns and cities.
The PTA Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Mawuli Yao Dzidza described the provision of the facility as a dream come true. According to him, his Association would continue to do all it could to address the other pertinent issues affecting the school.

Yevutse encouraged the pupils to take their studies very seriously, emphasizing
that the ICT patch is the surest way to go in recent years.
He reminded them to aspire to greater heights just as the old students have done, saying the sky should become their limit in the pursuant of their goals and aspirations.
As part of the event, the school also held its Carols Day Celebration in preparation
towards the seasons of Christmas and the New Year. The nine carol lessons, some of which were read in French and Ewe, were interspersed with poetry recitals, drama, Christmas hymns and carols as well as choreography from both the primary and junior high school pupils.
The Parish Priest in-charge of the Immaculate Conception R. C. Church, Rev. Fr. Peter Senoo urged Christians to positively make amends to their lives as the year draws closer to an end. ‘Let us trust God and have faith in Him’, Rev. Fr. Senoo intimated, assuring that the Good Lord would see Ghanaians through into the New Year of 2022.
He also reminded Christians that Christmas is a season of sharing, urging all and sundry to put a smile in the face of anybody one comes across during the yuletide season.
The SMC/PTA later honoured some seven (7) personalities and groups with a
beautiful citation for their contribution to the development of the school over the
years. The beneficiaries included the Agbozume-Zongo Community, the
Headteacher and his Assistant, the PTA Chair as well as Mr. Daniel Sorokpo and
Ms. Bless Sosu, teachers of the school.
