Oti: CCP workshop for JHS teachers ends today
As part of the implementation of the new Educational Curriculum reform programme, Junior High School Teachers in the Krachi East District were taken through a three (3) day training workshop at the Yabram Community Senior High School.
The workshop which starts on Wednesday 12th through the 14th of January,2021, is basically on the rollout of the new curriculum into the system.
The mandatory workshop covers all teachers at the Junior High School (JHS) levels on the new educational Programme called Common Core Programmes (CCP).
The Common Core Programmes is a new course introduced into the Ghana Educational System for Junior High Schools in the country.
The workshop will also enable teachers on how to handle pupils on the said Programme since it is to broaden the mind and also equip them with Critical thinking and Creativity from the basic school level before they enter Senior High School.
The Krachi East Municipal Director of Education, Mad. Georgina Mensah in her welcome address noted that formerly, they teach based on how pupil could pass their exams but with the new programme, it will impact into the pupil regarding how to live on their own with the courses after completion since it impact more of critical thinking into the pupils.
She is however confident that, teachers will take the new programme very seriously for a solid foundation in basic education.
The Municipal director further indicated that the introduction of the new Common Core Programmes has extended the Junior High School programmes to Four years (4) thus from Junior High School form One (1) to Senior High School form One (1) before Children make their choice of Courses at the Senior High School programmes.
Speaking to some of the teachers at the workshop, they shared their delight and readiness for the new programme and pledged their availability to support the rollout.
