HO: GLOBAL EVANGELICAL CHURCH (GEC) INDUCTS NEW SYNOD EXECUTIVE INTO OFFICE.


The Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has held a colourful and an eventful service of induction for its newly elected Synod Committee Executive at Ho in the Volta Region. 

The new leadership of the church which included the new Moderator of the Church, Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzormeku, would run the affairs of the Church for the next six (6) years.

The Jubilee Park at Ho was the venue for the event. It was full to capacity during the induction service which attracted thousands of congregants and worshippers, the clergy as well as members of the Church from the length and breadth of the country.

The four Synod Committee Executive members have distinguished themselves over the years in various leadership positions of the church and its activities. They were the Moderator of the GA of the Church, Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzormeku, the Synod Clerk, Rev. Dr. Yohannes Kwasi Ahiabu, Male Presbyter, Mr. Eyram Kwame Atsu as well as the Female Presbyter, Mrs. Joyce Dieu Donne Ahiabor.

The induction rights were performed and administered to the new synod executive by the immediate past Moderator of the Church, Very Rev. Dr. S.K. Ofori in the full glare of the members of the church present at the event. This was after the immediate past Synod Clerk of the Church, Rev. R.M.K. Attih read the rich profiles of the four (4) personalities to the congregation and the invited guests.

Very Rev. Ofori also preached the sermon for the occasion where he charged the new executive to plan and move the church to a higher pedestal to the glory of God. According to him, that would be one of the surest ways of fulfilling Christ’s expectations for the GEC and for the lives of its entire membership of 144,555 congregants, 389 Ministers and 69 Evangelists as well as the 989 congregations spread throughout the country.

The Immediate Past Moderator stressed the need for the executive to have a united front, devoid of allowing people to as he put it dig trenches between them. He called on the membership of the church not only to support the new executive but also allow them to work effectively and efficiently to realize the vision and mission of the GEC.

Very Rev. Dr. Ofori announced that the GEC has fifty-five (55) policies and plans
that are geared towards the unity agenda of the members of the congregation.
According to him, policies such as those on marriage, youth and gender
empowerment, education, health, death and burial, children, adults and the aged as well as skills training and development, are all meant to unite the rank and file of the membership and leadership of the church at all levels.

Delivering his induction service address, the new Moderator of the Church, Rt.
Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzormeku called for unity in the church and pledged to be a
father for all with no room for discrimination against any groups of people or individuals. He appealed to the members and leaders of the church to support them in prayers so to enable them positively impact the spiritual and physical lives of the members according to God’s will and direction.
Rt. Rev. Dzormeku was grateful to the out-going Synod Committee Executive for the successes chalked during their tenure of office and pledged the commitment of the new executive to working harder to further uplift the image and track record of the GEC in the coming years.
In a speech delivered on his behalf by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for
Afadzato South and Dean of the MMDCEs Group in the region, the Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa commended the GEC for its immense
contribution to the development of the country, particularly in the area of education and health amongst others. 

He expressed the hope that the church would continue to make greater impact on its members under its new leadership.

In a speech by the MP for North Tongu, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, he made a passionate appeal to the leadership and members of the GEC to offer special prayers for the country and her democracy which according to him was at the crossroad. 

He pointed out that the issues that confronted the nation in Parliament
last year including the degeneration of some into fisticuffs were unfortunate,
adding that such incidents should not be associated with the country’s current
hanged parliament.
A number of dignitaries from all walks of life witnessed the event. They included
chiefs and queenmothers from the host Volta Region and beyond as well as the
immediate past Synod Executive Members of the Church.
The GEC is a vibrant Bible-believing Church that accepts the Lord, Jesus Christ as Saviour. It believes in the full manifestation of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. The Church also has branches in some foreign countries such as the United Kingdom (UK), Unites States of America (USA), Norway, La Cote d’Ivoire, Togo and Tanzania with missionary efforts on-going in Uganda and other countries.
The Church has a Synod which serves as its ‘Parliament’. The Synod Committee
which is a Representative Council, serves as the decision-making body of the
Church. 
There is also an Executive made up of two clergy and two laity. The clergy occupy full-time positions and see to the administration of the Church while
the laity assists in decision-making and the execution of specialized duties of the
Church.
One of the two clergy members in the current new Synod Committee Executive
position is Rt. Rev. Prosper Samuel Dzormeku, born on 14th February, 1966 to the late Mr. Ebenezer Sena Komla Dzormeku from Leklebi-Kame in the Afadzato South District and Martha Ama Adom Nusianunyo from Tsyome-Sabadu in the North Dayi District, all of the Volta Region of Ghana. 
He was commissioned into the GEC in 1998. He was a Catechist, Youth Co-ordinator, Teacher and Tutor as
well as a Pastor of a number of congregations over the years until his latest elevation to the position of the Moderator of the Church.

The second clergy, Rev. Dr. Yohannes Kwasi Ahiabu is the Synod Clerk. He was
born on 24th February, 1966 at Mafi-Deveme near Mafi-Kumase in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region to Mr. Kofi Azieti Ahiabu of Mafi-Deveme and Madam Amevi Akpene Asiegbor of Mafi-Asiegborkope, both of blessed memory.
He was called to the pastoral ministry in 1999. He also taught, pastored and served at various levels and congregations of the Church before becoming the current Synod Clerk of the GEC.

Presbyter Eyram Kwame Atsu is the male laity on the Synod Committee Executive. He was born on 6th April, 1957 at Avenorpedo in the Akatsi South
Municipality of the Volta Region. He has his lineage roots from Abor and the Lafe
Clan in the lineage of Torgbui Amegavieso of Avenorpeme and his maternal roots from Anyako-Woeto and Avenorpedo. He is the first born of ten (10) surviving children of his parents. 

He was a staunch banker by profession and served in many capacities of the GEC. These included President of the Bible Study & Prayer Group, Amakom Parish, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region for ten (10) years from 1985 to 1995 as well as Chairman of the Presbyters’ Association of the Kumasi Presbytery from 2012 to 2021.
Presbyter Mrs. Joyce Dieu Donne Ahiabor (Nee Sedziafa) is the female laity
position holder. She was born on 20th August, 1960 at Dzelukope near Keta to
Major Johnson Kwami Agbeko Sedziafa (DSO Retd) of Anyako-Woeto in the
Keta Municipality of the Volta Region and the late Madam Gladys Aku Dosavi-
Sosu of Lokossa in the Mono Region of the Republic of Benin and Blekusu in the
Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region. 

She is the second born of ten
siblings and the first female child of her parents. She accepted Christ as her Lord
and personal Saviour in 1984. She is a Counseling Psychologist and a Family Life Education specialist. 

Mrs. Ahiabor was consecrated as Presbyter at the Trinity Parish, Kotobabi in Accra in 2010. She served in various capacities of the GEC to present her the opportunity to be elevated to her current position for the next six (6) years.

A fraternal greetings and message from the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic
Council (GPCC) pledged the Council’s unflinching support, both spiritual and
physical to the new Synod Committee Executive and the GEC in all its
programmes and activities in this new era of spiritual transformation and renewal as well as in fulfillment of the Great Commission with hope towards the coming of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

There were also goodwill messages from the Children, Youth, Women and Men’s
Ministries of the Church as well as from the National Secretariat of the Global
Evangelical Students and Associates’ Ministry (GESAM).
