AFLAO: TWO SCHOOL CHILDREN SMASHED TO DEATH ON DIAMOND CEMENT ROAD

What appears to be a jubilant day for two siblings ended on the sad not when they crushed to death on their way to school.

In the early hours of Thursday , December 9, 2021, Mr. Amuzu decided to personally take his children to school using his motorbike. The Al Munarrawal Basic School was celebrating a special day to mark the end of the academic year.

The location of their residence demands that they must necessarily use the Diamond Cement Factory Road, a road regarded as the most dangerous road in the Volta Region.

Luck eluded this humble family. 

A motorbike in the process of dodging some holes on the road hit the back of Mr. Amuzu's motorbike. This pushed them under a moving trailer.

First, a nine - year old daughter of Mr.Amuzu was crushed by one of the tyres of the trailer , killing her instantly. To add salt to the injury ,his seven - year old son was rushed to the municipal hospital. His pelvis was fractured, his one leg was broken and he suffered a severe hemorrhage and died in the afternoon of the same day.

Mr. Amuzu himself got one of his lights broken.

It will be recalled that on the May 11, 2021, some youth embarked on a demonstration to push the Minister of Roads and Highways to keep his own promise.

Diamond Cement Factory is located in Aflao Duta in the Ketu South Municipality of Volta.

It has been operating in Aflao since 2002.

It is however sad that this road used by the tiper trucks and trailers in the haulage of the raw materials and finished products has been death threats all along.
