JUST IN: Akatsi North DCE nominee rejected again

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nominee for District Chief Executive for Akatsi North in the Volta Region, Mr. Prosper Kofi Patu, has been rejected for the second time.
During the Second Confirmation which took place today, October 25, 2021, Mr Patu managed to get only seven YES votes and eleven NO votes — total vote cast was 18.
The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Archibald Yao Letsa, Former Deputy Regional Minister, Rev. Johnson Avulete, Akatsi South MCE, Hon. Kofitsey Martin Nyahe and many other dignitaries were present at the Assembly hall in Ave Dakpa, the District capital, to monitor the entire process.
Speaking to InsiderGH.com after the confirmation process, the Assemblyman for Agormor Agado Electoral Area in the Akatsi North District, Hon. Cephas Weto, noted that the rejection of the DCE nominee on two different occasions is a clear reflection of the voice of the people of Akatsi North.
Hon. Weto went further to reveal that, the behavior of the nominee, which is well known to the Assembly Members and the chiefs of Akatsi North, could be part of the reasons for the DCE nominee’s outright rejection by members of the Akatsi North District Assembly.
Mr. Patu in his first attempt on October 06, 2021, failed to secure the required two-thirds of votes by Assembly members present to confirm his nomination.
Out of the 18 assembly members who were present and voting during the 1st attempt, only seven voted in favour of the nominee, while the remaining 11 rejected his nomination representing 39 percent.
