Gbledi Mankrado appeals to Gov’t for refurbishment of health Center, drinking water

The Mankrado of Gbledi Traditional Area in the Afadzato South District of the Volta Region, Togbe Adabra IV, has lamented on what he described as the poor state of the Gbledi community health center as he called on government to refurbish the facility so as to improve the medical efficiency of people in the area.

Togbe Adabra said, the facility looks very bad and needs an urgent major refurbishment.

He noted that, there has not been any major maintenance done on the facility since 1980 when it was officially opened for use.

Togbe is of the view that the Clinic needs expansion with laboratory services since the area is a tourist site which host foreigners on several occasions adding that, the clinic should have an ambulance that can respond to emergencies.

Togbe further lamented about other numerous challenges in the facility including lack of staff bungalow to accommodate the nurses thereby forcing staff to rent elsewhere in the community.

He also mentioned that, the staff accommodation challenge is making health workers not to accept posting to the community.

Togbe added that, the area also lacks potable water supply to the facility so people have to walk several miles to nearby communities in search of water for the facility and domestic use.

He again complained of poor telecommunication network services, poor street lightning system and several others that are making life unbearable for people in the traditional area.

Togbe revealed that the assembly has pledged their support but could not due to their limited financial strength.

He however expressed his gratitude to government for the revamping of their road network to facilitate smooth accessibility and enhance socio-economic activities of the area.

He therefore called on goverment and other Philanthropists to come to their rescue to renovate their health centre and also provide them with portables drinking water
