Akpini Radio is for the people of Akpini NOT an NPP - Act. Manager debunks rumors.
Tuesday, October 5, 2021
The Acting General Manager of the newly opened Radio Station, Akpini Radio, Mr Zilevu Gershon Mawutor have reacted talks from public about the newly opened Radio Station to be that of the ruling New Patriotic Party's assert.
In a post released by the acting Manager, Mr Gershon, he stated that the radio is for the people of Akpini not any political party.
Below is the Press release.
"There have been talks from certain quarters that the Akpini Radio is an NPP owned station. We wish to debunk the rumour and state categorically that the radio station is not NPP owned or affiliated.
Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah is a Minister of State for Ghana not a Minister for the NPP. He was present as guest Speaker in his capacity as information Minister for Ghana.
The Akpini Radio station is a result of the hard work of the Chiefs and the good people of Kpando.
The journey begun in 2010 when the late Togbega Dagadu (Paramount Chief) set up a Committee to ensure Kpando Municipal had a radio station.
The committee was made up of the following people.
Club Justice (Secretary to the Chiefs Secretariat), Mr. Adjei Kudzo, Mr. Fella Ntumy, Mr. Winifred Agbale, Mr. Sylvanus Kyekye. Mr. Joe Kpenge, Mr. Charles Adzroe, Mr. Samuel Sunu, and Mr.Tachie Koranateng
The Committee sought the help of H.E. Ken Kanda former Ghana's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, who indicated same in his address at the event. He said when he was going on duty tour to the US, he handed the mantle over to the Member of Parliament for Kpando, Hon. Della Sowah, who persevered till the station was established on Sunday 3rd October, 2021.
The station name AKPINI RADIO is synonymous with the people of Kpando. The name is a reminder of the oath of 'tight' unity the founders of the state swore when they migrated from Nortse. "Nikpi" means the tight bond that exists between the founders of the Akpini State.
The colour blue is the colour of the Akpini state. It precedes NPP's use of the colour blue.
The slogan "Na ne waose wogbe" is to break the culture of silence where not only a few people will drive the discourse. Akpini Radio is here to encourage people to speak out and "let your voice be heard'.
The station is to serve the Kpando Municipality; made up of Kpando, Sovie, Gbefi and Kudzra.
Let us not distort our history with personal hatred and vindictiveness. Let us not seek to sow seeds of discord but rather forge a tight bond of unity.
Nikpinikpi (AKPINI)"

Gershon Mawutor
