Unveiling Tilda Elinam Acorlor, Sports Journalist.

Dreams and passion for one’s progress in life is good but what earns the ultimate spot is the consistency and the desire to stay relevant. Women, day in and day out, continue to make inroads in whatever that suits them even if there is a glass ceiling that should be broken. Our personality has not been resting on her oars.
Tilda Elinam Acorlor comes from Akatsi, Volta Region, Ghana. The eloquent queen of sport journalism who doubles as the secretary to Mama Nyafiave of Horti, was at Zion College of West Africa(ZICO) for her SHS education. Throughout her academic journey, she has always made giant strides to kickstart something so great. It was therefore no brainer when her appetite for success blossomed and finally, here she is inspiring many.
She has a rich CV, as far as educational and professional qualification is concerned. Here are few; Evangelical Presbyterian University College, BSc. HRM (Degree), Ghana Broadcasting Training School, Cert. in Broadcasting, Accra Polytechnic, D.B.S, Ninga Institute of Communication Technology, Cert in Computer Software and Ghana Technology University College Certificate in B.P.O.
Elinam disclosed to rymcitigh.com that she has really surmounted a lot of hurdles just to see her plans fall in place. She narrated that, she faced challenges when she started charting her career path. According to her, the same people who were encouraging her to go into it, now see her as a fierce rival but she is simply unperturbed.
The Volta Star sports presenter and founder of The Night Street Soccer League also opened up on what really the initiative is about. She revealed that the The Night Street Soccer League is a community Five-aside League which focuses on football at night as well as creating a medium to equip, nurture and mentor talents in Anlokodzi, a surburb in the Ho Municipality and other surrounding communities with the purpose of discouraging the youth from crime and other social vices.
On the success of the initiative, the beautiful sport presenter revealed that it allows teenagers the opportunity in Anlokodzi to kick against the challenge of a community tag “noted for notoriety” through the leagues engagements and intermittent workshops. She paid glowing tributes to the region’s National Sports Authority, The Ho Municipal Assembly, The Municipal Youth Authority, the Assembly Member of the area and the Ghana Police Service in the Ho Municipality for their immense support.
Issues concerning girls have also been of topmost priority for her. Elinam is a lead Coordinator of ‘GroomDatGirl’, a project initiative that is aimed at helping vulnerable young girls from age 13-20 years in the Ho Municipality and its environs. Together with her colleague female broadcasters and other media personalities, young girls who loiter around at midnight would be provided with career guidance services. This is to remedy the canker in the Ho Municipality.
The three-time GJA -Volta Sports Broadcaster of the Year admonished young girls who are aiming at careers supposedly meant for males not to give up on their dreams. According to her, girls can equally thrive anywhere if only they are committed. It is her hope that society continues to support the girl child to the top.
This is another gem that is making a case for women to be empowered. Like we always do at Rymcitigh, we celebrate greatness and also commend our gallant citizens for excelling. Dear Elinam, you deserve every ounce of appreciation for your works. You are a torchbearer, never let it dim.
