Volta: Love gone sour as boyfriend shot girlfriend and shot himself to death

Just about two months ago, a 53 year old Nobert Ataafi was shot and killed in Alavanyo Wudidi in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region during a disagreement over palm wine. 

While the Ataafi family is recovering from this tragedy, cousin of Nobert Ataafi, Sampson Koku Ataafi believed to be in his 30s shot his girlfriend, Owusu Melody and later shot himself to death after he caught the lady with another man. 

According to the residents, Sampson Ataafi suspected the lady of cheating on him so he ambushed the girlfriend and her new boyfriend as at about 1am on Tuesday, May 26. 

They narrated the story that, Sampson, upon realizing his girlfriend was in the new boyfriend’s room opened fire on the lady through a trap door,  fortunately for Melody, she sustained the gunshot on her left side breast whilst  Sampson thought the lady has died, he opened the gun on himself leading to his sudden death.

Melody Owusu was rushed to Margret Marquart Catholic Hospital in Kpando for medical attention while body of Sampson Ataafi is yet to be conveyed by the Police.
