Two months old baby dumped in an uncompleted building at Akatsi

A two-month-old baby boy has been found alive in an uncompleted building by residents of Avetite, a suburb of Akatsi in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta region on Wednesday, April 7.

Mr Victus Kportufe, the Assemblymember of Akatsi-Anyiheme in interaction with ModernGhana News said he received a call from residents of Avetite at around 9pm about the incident.
According to him, the baby is suspected to have been dumped by his mother who is currently at large.

He said members of the community were shocked since nothing of that nature has ever happened in the area.

Mr Kportufe further explained that the matter has been reported to the Akatsi South Police command and the Municipal Social Welfare Department for immediate action.

He noted that the baby was taken to Akatsi South Municipal Hospital for treatment.

The doctors noticed that the baby had two-month-old injection scars on the shoulders which indicated that the baby.

The baby is under the care of an orphanage home, 'ln My Father's House' at Abor in the Keta Municipality.

Mr Emmanuel Dorkordi, the Akatsi South Municipal Social Welfare Director stated that, the baby is well and under good maternal care.

He advised all women especially the young ones to avoid premarital sex to prevent unwanted pregnancies which might have resulted in such situations. "If you are not ready to have a baby, why do you involve yourself in a relationship?" he quizzes.

Mr Dorkordi added that the Akatsi police have commenced investigations to fish out the mother of the abandoned baby.

He appealed to the general public to help the directorate and the police in reporting such mothers if they suspect any.
