Ho: EP Church Ghana Elects New Moderator

Reverend Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Agbeko has been elected as the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church, Ghana.  He polled 126 out of 165 votes cast, indicating an overwhelming endorsement by the commissioners and corresponding members from the 15 Presbyteries and headquarters of the church.

The event took place during the 9th General Assembly of the E.P Church at the Dela Cathedral in Ho, the Volta Regional capital.

The 9th General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian (E.P) Church brought together the hierarchy as well as commissioners and corresponding members from the15 Presbyteries and headquarters of the church to deliberate on issues affecting the Church and to chart the path for progress.

It was themed: “Improving Upon Our Gains Through Selflessness, Integrity and Effective Stewardship”.

The Moderator-elect Reverend Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd) Bliss Agbeko contested two other candidates nominated by the conclave of ministers of the Church, namely  Rev. Dr. Bridget Ben-Naimah, and Rev. Sylvanus Kwasi Tettey, all priests of the Church.

He has been a priest of the church for 29 years serving in various capacities and will take over from Rev. Dr Seth Senyo Agidi, whose tenure ends by the end of this year.

Rev. Dr. Lt. Col (Rtd) Agbeko who is 57-years-old will steer the affairs of the church for the next six years. He hails from Hohoe in the Volta Region and is married to Mercy Agbeko and has four children.

The outgoing-Moderator of the Church, Rev Dr Seth Senyo Agidi, advised politicians to embark upon issue-based politics ahead of this year’s general elections to safeguard the country’s peace and security before, during and after the elections.

He advised the Moderator- elect of the Church, Rev. Dr. Lt. Col Rtd Agbeko to build upon the legacy and solid foundation laid by the forebears of the Church.

A ceremony will be held to officially outdoor Rev Dr Lt Col (Rtd) Agbeko, as the new Moderator of the E.P Church Ghana.
