Covid-19: Low Mortality Rate Due To Efficient Management- Hadzide.

The Deputy Minister for Information, Honourable Pius Enam Hadzide has said  Ghana’s Covid-19 mortality rate is one of the lowest compared to other countries across the African continent and the world.

This, he attributed to Government’s impressive and efficient  management of  cases in the country. He said early decisions like closure of the country’s borders, enhanced contact tracing and testing, lock down of some areas in the country among others, led to early identification and treatment which greatly reduced the number of lives lost.

He made the comments when he appeared on Jubilee Radio’s Morning Show Program AGUADZE on Friday (June 5, 2020).

Asked if it is not too early to start easing restrictions in the country considering the surge in cases, Mr. Hadzide said, the easing is necessary to allow life to continue because till date, no cure has been found and no one knows when a cure or vaccine will be in sight so it behooves Government to look for safe ways for citizens to live with the virus.  He added that, students in final year across the country need to prepare adequately for their exams hence Government’s decision to ease the restrictions and allow them to prepare adequately.

He advised citizens to continue cooperating with Government by adhering to the protocols laid down in the President’s tenth address to the nation.

The Deputy Information Minister  donated disposable nose masks to Jubilee Radio to help protect staff against the virus during the execution of their duties.

Ghana has recorded a total of 9, 168 Covid-19 cases with 3, 457 recoveries and 42 deaths as at today Friday.
