V/R: Zongo Caucus Co-ordinator donates to Muslim inmates at Ho Prison

The Volta Regional Zongo Caucus Co-ordinator for the opposition National Democratic Congress, Hajia Hawa Tahiru has presented packs of food  including fruits and sachet water to the tune of Ghc1,800 to Muslim inmates at the Ho Central Prison.

According to her, the donation is to assist the inmates to observe the obligatory fasting in the holy month of Ramadan.

"We are in the holy month of Ramadan and as Muslims, it is time we give to assist those who do not have; indeed those who are in prison are also human so I have decided to do something small to make them feel happy in this holy month of fasting."

Hajia added that the gesture would continue until the fasting period is over; while adding that "I advise you humble yourselves and continue to hope that a day would come for you to have your freedom."

"All is not lost, I don't know why you are here but I think it will be prudent to abide by the laws and do things that will not keep you here for long," she advised.

Receiving the items, ASP Nelson Hornyedzi expressed gratitude for the gesture.

"We the staffs and the inmates of Ho Central prison welcome you for remembering us during this time with your small token, we believe it will go a long way to ease the burdens on the inmates," ASP Hornyedzi stated.
