Oti Region: Biakoye District Benefits from One Million Dollar, One Constituency Initiative.

District Chief Executive (DCE) for Biakoye in the Oti Region, Hon. Comfort Akua Atta has disclosed that the district is getting its fair share of developmental projects under the President’s One Constituency, One Million dollar programme. According to her, the initiative has come in the form of some projects which would positively impact on the economic lives of the people.
Madam Atta was speaking on the sidelines of a brief ceremony to present some items to the Moslem community at Tapa Abotoase as part of this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations. According to her, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has done a lot for the country, adding that the Muslims should continue to pray for the President and the party to realize their dreams, vision and aspirations for the people.
The Moslem community in the Oti Region in general and the Biakoye District in particular was not left out in this year’s Fasting and Prayer event which took place in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic that has bedeviled the entire world including Ghana.
The usual merry making was absent except that the individuals and their family members organized prayers and feasting in their various homes.
DCE for the area, Madam Comfort Akua Atta used the occasion to present thirty (30) bags of twenty-five (25) kilograms of rice as well as fifteen (15) bags of the same size of sugar to the Muslim community at Abotoase and its environs to support their Ramadan festival celebrations.
Presenting the items, Madam Atta said she was hopeful that the end of the Ramadan prayer and fasting by the Moslems would crown the NPP’s re-election victory in the December polls.
Touching on the One Constituency, One Million Dollar projects, the DCE announced that Kwamekrom is to benefit from a forty (40) sitter open market stalls for its market while twenty (20) manual boreholes are also to be constructed across various communities in the district. ‘Bitumen surfacing of the Abotoase Junction to the almighty Abotoase market has been awarded on contract and the contractor would come to site very soon to start the work’, she added.
According to the DCE, the deplorable Bowiri Amanfrom to Bowiri Anyinase road has also been awarded on contact, adding that the project has spots improvement works to be done on the road.
The items were presented to the Moslems through the NPP Parliamentary Candidate (PC) for the Biakoye Constituency in the 2020 elections, Mr. Daniel Korsinah and the NPP Constituency Chairman, Mr. Moro Sulemana.
Mr. Korsinah was grateful to the DCE for the gesture and urged the Moslems in the area in particular and the country at large to continue to observe all the health protocols associated with the Covid-19 pandemic. He also pledged his support to the DCE in her individual and collective efforts to move the district forward.
The event was witnessed by some Moslems in the area as well as some NPP communicators in the Constituency.
