Anloga (V/R): Two Covid19 cases Confirmed.
The Anloga District in the Volta Region of Ghana has recorded first two cases of confirmed Covid-19 cases. The newly created district is the latest to have joined the likes of Ketu South Municipality, Hohoe Municipality, Ho, Kpando etc. with confirmed cases in the region.
Confirming the news to Jubilee Radio on the Aguadze program hosted by Saviour Selasi Amenyedzi, the District Chief Executive of Anloga District Assembly, Hon. Seth Yormewu stated the cases are from Anyanui and Anloga, which are major towwns in the district.
According to the DCE, both patients are females aged 32 and 50. One of the victims is a pregnant woman with travel history. The DCE stated that further investigations have revealed that, the patient travelled from Abidjan in the Republic of Cote d’ ivoire to Ghana a week ago and started feeling abnormal which compelled the victim to voluntarily walked to a health center where samples were taken for Covid-19 test which came out positive.
The DCE commended health workers in the district and added that, contact tracing has begun with 35 people reached so far in both cases and the necessary protocols in dealing with these contacts have been initiated and samples taken for testing at the University of Health and Allied Sciences testing center in Ho with the results expected to be available within days.
The DCE called for calm among residents and urge them to strictly adhere to the WHO recommended protocols to avoid the spread of the global pandemic in the area. He warned that carelessness on the part of residents may lead to stringent measures like closure of major markets in the district.
Data available on the Ghana Health Service website as at press time indicates that, the Volta Region has a total of 59 confirmed cases out of 7,303 cases recorded nationwide with 2,412 recoveries and 34 deaths.
Information available to jubilee radio indicates these cases are likely to jump due to enhanced contact tracing being carried out in the region and the country.
