 I share the same position as Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in the case of the need to evacuate Ghanaian students from China's Province of Wuhan; a position that seemingly sounded stupid to many political antagonist in the early days.

While we were adamant with several government officials rubbishing his calls in a fun-filled mockery regalia, our borders and airports were still open and in full operations. Sadly enough, we claimed and I mean government claimed the repatriation of our own fellow Ghanaians would account for a surge in our own cases of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ironically, even within this period that our borders and airports are shut, we have found good diplomatic reasons to allow other countries to repatriate their nationals from Ghana. The South African nationals, who are departing from Ghana in this week for example, would undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine on arrival in the SA yet we neglected our own, left them in China to fend for themselves in this difficult times.

Verifiably, none of these Ghanaian students have so far contracted the novel coronavirus; in fact, before our airports were closed some of these students returned to the country and are medically fit.

The logic in defending government on this one is wack and must be discarded on arrival. Today, several of these nationals and African compatriots are being subjected to all forms of human rights abuses -forceful arrest, quarantine and ejection from their apartments in the Guangdoug city of China.

Sadly, the Ghanaian embassy in China doesn't see the urgency attached to this atrocities our fellow country men are being subjected to.
