V/R: Central Tongu District Inaugurates Census Committee

An 8 member district census implementation committee was inaugurated in central Tongu district on the 27th February 2020. Committee members consists of Traditional rulers, the education and health directorates, the information service, National commission on Civic education and the planning division of the district assembly.
    Delivering a keynote address on behalf of the district chief executive, Mr Reuben Akufo (district Co-odinating director ) encouraged committee members to work hard to achieving credible data from the district. He says it is upon a credible data adequate plans can be made towards a particular district by the central government .He says " the United Nations recommends that every country should endeavor to undertake a population and housing census every ten years. Population and housing census is an indispensable Governance tool required to ensure that good Governance and democracy works for all."
The committee is supposed to assist in the acquisition of of offices for District office, Assist in publicity and education on the census , Facilitate the recruitment of field officers , Facilitate thr acquisition of training venues and most importantly assist in resolving any dispute that may arise as  a result of the exercise.
    The committee was innaugurated  and taken through a presentation to get them acquainted with what the exercise is going be.
